He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Saunders and Isabella Saunders (Gilbert); his son-in-law Tom Deveau; and his sisters, Catherine Craig and Irene Bickerton.

He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Boudreau Saunders (Crowell); his children, Steve Saunders (Carol) and Leanne Best (Geoff); his stepchildren, Gayle Hamilton (Kendrick), Pam Boudreau-Deveau and Jim Boudreau (Kathy); his siblings, June Kopperser (George), Lynn Downie (Ian) and Bill Saunders (Donna); and his granddaughter Chrissy. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia.
