He was predeceased by : his parents, Ernest Holmes and Angeline Holmes (Goodick); his wife Frances Louise Holmes (MacKenzie); and his brother Robert Holmes. He is survived by : his sons, Charles (Rosalie) and Darrell (Amy); his grandchildren, Darren Holmes (Tanya), Tracy Carbonell (Michael), Melissa Holmes and Christopher Holmes; his great grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley and Chiara; his great great grandchild Caleb; and his siblings-in-law, Shirley Deare, Gloria Cameron and Norman Cameron. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations in Edgars name may be made to the Christ Anglican Church, Shelburne .
