He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Mersey and Gladys Mersey (Corkum); his son John Hines; his siblings, Leo, Vernon, Joyce Ritcey and Ola Zinck; and his nephew Lynwood Mersey.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley (Smith); his grandchildren, Samantha Usher and Keilah Deveau; and his nieces and nephews, Sheila Ritcey, Bruce Mersey, Earl Mersey, Ivan Mersey, Howard Mersey and Raeburne Zinck.
