We announce the death of Ethel Marie Cottreau (Yarmouth, Nova Scotia), who passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 96. Ethel will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Amirault and Elsie Amirault (DeViller); her husband Robert Jules Cottreau; and her siblings, Robert "Bob", Phyllis and Ruth.
She is survived by: her sisters, Merriam Sullivan and Patricia Paul; her children, Lowell Cottreau (Sharlene), Rebecca "Becky" Cottreau and Peter Cottreau; her grandchildren, Joshua Cottreau (Andrea), Amanda Dempsey (Stephen) and Colin Dempsey (Krys); her great grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin and Faye; Hope Hubbard.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Huskilson's Funeral Chapel (29 Albert St, Yarmouth, NS B5A3N1). A prayer was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Huskilson's Funeral Home (29 Albert St, Yarmouth, NS B5A3N1). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the St. Ambrose Co-Cathedral (65 Green St, Yarmouth, NS B5A1Z6).
Memorial donations may be made to the Tri County Women's Centre, or charity of choice.
