He was predeceased by: his parents, George A. Atkinson and Erma Atkinson; his sister Marina; and his brothers-in-law, Gary Nelson, Erwin Ross and Sable Nickerson.

He is survived by: his wife Marlene (Ross); his daughter Wanda Maxwell (Kirt); his grandsons, Matthew Maxwell (Shanna) and Jason Maxwell (Victoria); his great grandchild Ivy Maxwell; his sister Katherine Nickerson; and his siblings-in-law, Wayne Ross (Corinna) and Veronica Ross. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
