He was predeceased by: his parents, Malcolm MacDonnell and Elva MacDonnell (Jeffery); his wife Shirley Mae (Whynot); and his siblings, Phyllis Nickerson (Donnie), Malcolm (Ella), Ralph (Winnifred) and Eric.

He is survived by: his daughters, Karen Greenwood (Terry) and Brigette Nickerson (Jimmy); his grandchildren, Dalton, Courtney (Jared), Shelby (Jason), Brandon (Katrina) and Colby; his great grandchildren, Anna, Nathan, Bruin, Mitchell, Myles and Larkyn; his sisters, Ruth Stoddard (late Lewis) and Jean Goreham (late Neil); and his niece Anne Wickens (Russel).

Memorial donations in his name may be made to the VON or the Royal Canadian Legion.
