He was predeceased by: his parents, Nancy Leona (Kennedy) and Hartley Austin Garron; his brothers-in-law, David Quinlan and Kenneth Atwood; his mother-in-law Evelyn Groves; Ivan Fisher.

He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Claire (Atkinson); his children, Suzanne Penney (Levi), Sabrina Penney and Benjamin Penney (Olivia); his grandsons, Brady Townsend Jr. (Nicole), Seth Penney (Nadia) and Austin Christink; his great grandchildren, Felix Williams and Eli Townsend; and his siblings, Lillian Nickerson (Frank), Marjorie Newell (Irwin), Deloris Quinlan, Hartley Jr. (Beverley) and Jerry. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
