He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Owens and Josephine Owens (LaPoint); his wife Catherine Owens (Hogan); his sons, John and Thomas; his siblings, Patrick, Robert, Vivian and Carrie; and his son-in-law Keith Best.

He is survived by: his children, Leo Owens (Marilyn) of Haneytown, NB, Marilyn Acker (Barrie) of Lincoln, NB, Sharon Best of Oromocto, NB and Carol Chappelle (Al) of Geary, NB; and his brother David Owens of Yarmouth, NS. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
