He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ernest Hattie and Josephine Marie Hattie (Fitzgerald); his stepgrandson Justin Morine; and his daughter Tina. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Hattie (Williams); his sons, James (Vanessa) and Tony (Liz); his stepson Trevor Morine (Michelle); his siblings, Johnny Hattie (Rita), Loretta Moulaison (late James) and Evelyn Miller of Taunton, Mass; his nephew Phillip Hattie; his niece Dawn Scott (Robert); and his grandchildren, Kira, Kiya, Valkyrie and Tallis. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Yarmouth Food Bank.
