He was predeceased by: his parents, Mona Costain Newell and John Fraser Newell; his brother Ted Newell; and his nephews, Bob and Randy Newell.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Atkinson; his daughters, Lauraine Armstrong (Terry) and Marguerite (Jay); and his nephew Brian Newell.
