He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Richard Elgie and Sophie Elgie (Walsh); his wife Sandra Leah Elgie; his children, Sarah (Garett) and Richard (Jessica); his grandchildren, Katelyn Rose and Jonathan Lawrence; his siblings, Dennis Richard, Sandra Mae and Sharon Ann; his sister-in-law Christine Andrews; and his nephews, Dennis James, Tommy (Sheena) and Danny.

He loved spending time and spoiling his grandchildren, relaxing at home with Sandy watching their shows and giving the occasional 'donation' at the casino.
