Matthew Vito Maltese Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Matthew Vito Maltese of Pickering, Ontario, who passed away on April 29, 2024, at the age of 40, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though Matthew Vito may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Matthew Vito touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.

He is survived by : his parents, Vito Maltese and Sheila Maltese; and his grandmothers, Auriel Hembruff and Josie Maltese. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, and cousins.

This gathering will honor his enduring spirit, his contributions to the world of basketball, and his role as a mentor and friend. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honour Matthew's legacy by contributing to ParaSport Ontario. Donations will support their Play to Podium Fund, and more specifically the newly created Matt Maltese Award, dedicated to helping another determined athlete overcome challenges and achieve greatness.
