With profound sadness, we say goodbye to William J. Edgar (Alliston, Ontario), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. William left this world on May 30, 2025 at the age of 86, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. Leave a sympathy message to the family in the guestbook on this memorial page of William J. He was predeceased by: his son Tim Edgar; his parents, John Edgar and Edith Edgar; and his siblings, Shirley Hopper (late Dave), Marie Prentice (late Hal) and Allan Edgar (late Silvia).

He is survived by: his wife Elsie; his daughter Vicki Edgar (Peter); his sister Jean Robertson (late Bob); his stepchildren, Jakki MacKenzie (Derrick), Clayton MacKenzie and Dave Bagley; his grandchildren, Coltin Shillington, Garrett Shillington, Danielle Shillington, Rachel Edgar (Jack), Wade Edgar and Olivia Hathaway; and his siblings-in-law, Berta Merchant (Dave) and Leendert Stolk (late Alice). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Living Faith Community Presbyterian Church (206 Murphy Rd, Egbert, ON L0L1N0). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Bill's memory to either Matthews House Hospice in Alliston, or the Living Faith Community Presbyterian Church in Baxter.

“Cheryl and myself are very saddened to lose such a friend. During our short visit a week or so ago, it was evident that his spirits were high, but that once strong body had let him down. Bill was one of the strongest men anyone knew! We remember that after his retirement at 60, he rode completely across Canada on his bike! To Elsie and all his family, our sincerest condolences on the loss of such a strong, humourous, and generous man who has now ”slipped the surly bonds”. Tailwinds.”

He was a great character, full of professionalism with a healthy dose of good humour. I shall never forget the hilarious manner in which he described the ordeal he endured when he did his command simulator sessions on the DC-9 (it was non-stop crazy).
