Rosalind A. Moller Obituary

Passed away on December 10, 2024.

Sorely missed by her husband, Peter and adult children Alison and Richard. Also twin grand-daughters, Jasmine and Tara, and Tara's baby, Roz' great granddaughter, Avril, who was such a delight to her. Also missed by their good friend, Fred Dawe.

She was a resident of this area since 1978; first for 19 years on a farm on the Golden Line, where they moved, initially looking to find a place to keep Alison's horse.

Rosalind first came to Ontario from Montreal in 1973 with her husband and the two young children. It was not long after that that she set up her own travel agency Travellers Choice Ltd. in Kanata, which she ran successfully until 1991, when it was sold. During those years she became involved in the Quota Club of Nepean and participated in their outreach activities.

Roz and family enjoyed many opportunities to travel during that time, with destinations such as Bermuda and Hawaii being especially memorable.

The farm was sold in 1997 and Roz, Peter and pets moved into Almonte to scale down - their children having since moved on to university. So, Roz' last 27 years were spent comfortably in Town.

With time constraints being reduced, Roz was able to spend time on personal pursuits. For example, she spent some time with the North Lanark Historical Society, serving as President for a term.

Early in life Roz showed a great artistic talent. It was unfortunate that, in the end, she never received the opportunity of developing it fully.

As a dog-lover, Roz was a long-time member of ARPH, a rescue group for Australian Shepherds. It was not unusual for up to three dogs to be accommodated at the same time, some as fosters; until permanent accommodation could be found for them. And for that matter, there was never a shortage of cats around either; three being the usual.

Roz expressed regret during the last two years that she no longer had any pets after the death of her beloved Aussie, Bandit. But she took pleasure and consolation during that time in the frequent visits from a neighbour's cat, Flynn, who regularly cruises the neighbourhood, making regular visits. And, of course, Roz was fond of the goldfish in the pond and saw to it that they were fed each day. And, of course, the birds, the chipmunks and the squirrels had to get their daily treat too. They provided much pleasure to Roz in watching them come and go.

Rosalind's health took a turn for the worse at the end of March this year when she suddenly suffered kidney failure. She spent the following 8 months travelling thrice weekly to Renfrew for dialysis. On December 3rd, following a mild heart attack, she was admitted for surgery to the Heart Institute. This led to her eventual demise from a severe stroke – a tragic and sudden ending to a good life.

In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

A get-together is planned for Roz at the C.R.Gamble. Funeral Home at 127 Church Street in Almonte on January 4, 2025, from 2 to 4 PM. With a time to share memories about Roz at 3pm. We look forward to seeing you.
