It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter Afanasiew (Amherstburg, Ontario), who passed away on March 2, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Walter Afanasiew to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Boris Afanasiew and Alexandra Afanasiew; his parents-in-law, Harold and Phyllis Hampton; and his sibling-in-law Stevie Hampton.
He is survived by: his wife Cheryl; his children, Tim Afanasiew and Tamara Tetreault (Alain); his grandson Alexander; his brother Vic (Irene); his nephews, Michael, Daniel Hampton (Sarah) and Matthew Hampton (Sarah); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Thomas and Emily; and his cousin Tamara Racette (Gaetin).
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Families First Amherstburg (585 Sandwich St S, Amherstburg, ON N9V3W3). A funeral service was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
