He was predeceased by : his parents, Eathel Knapp and Elsie Knapp (Manzer); his wife Luella; his children, Linda Knapp and Steven Knapp; his grandchildren, Summer Johnson and Jason Knapp; and his stepson Herbert Luce Sr..

He is survived by : his children, Don Knapp, Kevin Knapp Sr. (Jim), Christine Johnson (Kim) and Susan Holmes; his daughter-in-law Sharon Knapp; his stepson Robert Hughes (Grace); his son-in-law Chester Holmes; his grandchildren, Stephanie Knapp, Christina Koops (John), Justin Johnson, Kevin Knapp Jr., Katlynn Knapp and Mariah Holmes; his siblings, Lucille Mallory and William Knapp (Gaynelle); his former life partner Betty Ruthruff (Fewless); and his pets, Teddy and Bootsy. He is also survived by several step grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
