He was predeceased by: his parents, Waldemar (Adina) and Tovstiga. He is survived by: his wife Elvira "Elfie" Tovstiga; his sons, Andrew of Eden, Ontario, Benjamin (Elizabeth) of Ohio, USA, Markus (Elisabeth) of Oklahoma, USA, Thomas (Sarah) of Ohio, USA and Jeremy (Cynthia) of Ohio, USA; and his brothers, Siegfried and George. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, uncles and aunts, cousins.
