He was predeceased by: his parents, Govert and Pietronella (van Beek); his brother Ruddie Vandelaar; and his stepdaughter Allyson Wilson. He is survived by: his wife Janet; his children, Tayte, Chase and Jayda; his stepdaughter Vanessa Oevering (Brandon); his grandchildren, Reilynn and Gracelyn; his siblings, Anna Thew (Doug), Joanne Bertram (Jim) and John; and his caregiver Colleen Boyd-Wormsley.

Visitation was held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Covenant Christian Reformed Church (101 Ardagh Rd, Barrie, ON L4N9B6). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
