We bid farewell to Ethel Irene Byles (Barrie, Ontario), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on October 13, 2025 at the age of 97. Ethel touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her husband Donald Byles; her grandson Richard Romphf; and her siblings, Velma Pirie (late Albert), Leonard Chappel (late Vera), Muriel Coulson (late Garfield), Jean Jennett (late Borden), James Chappel (late Blanche) and Mary Prince (late Fred).
She is survived by: her children, Marilyn Romphf (late Keith), Robert "Bob" Byles (Kathy) and Steven Byles (Sharon); her grandchildren, Stephen Romphf, Brent Byles (Suzie), Kathryn Gough (Aidan), Joseph Byles (Arlene) and Jaclyn Byles (Dale Tomlinson); her great grandchildren, Tori, Daphne, Hanah Romphf, Gavyn, Tayte, Cayllum, Payton and Chloes Byles; her great great grandchildren, Aria and Ella; and her siblings, Frances Varcoe (late Clifford) and George Chappel (late Faye). She is also survived by nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Grace United Church (350 Grove St E, Barrie, ON L4M2R7). A burial will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM at the Barrie Union Cemetery (338 Sunnidale Rd, Barrie, ON L4M4S4). A reception will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Grace United Church (350 Grove St E, Barrie, ON L4M2R7).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ethel's memory may be made to Grace United Church or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
