He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Lewis Armstrong and Susan Adelaide Armstrong (Chapman); and his siblings, Russell, Charlie, Vern, George, Leslie, Alvin, Evelyn, Frances and Zilpha.

He is survived by: his sister Joan; his children, Lynda (Alvin), Diana (Doug), Gerry Jr. (Chris) and Shawn (David); and his friend Lorna. He is also survived by 14 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

Those wishing to honour Gerry's lifelong commitment to family and his service with The Canadian Coastguard, can make donations to Grove Park Home at 234 Cook Street, Barrie, Ontario, L4M 4H5.
