She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband John Laking; her children, Wendy Fretz (Fred), Jane Ricks (Claude), Sandra Chalmers (John), Paul Laking (Anne), John Laking (Anita), Susan Nickel (Bruce) and Ruth Laking; her brother Bruce McCuaig; and her grandchildren, Kelsey (Andrew), Brooke Nickel (Jason), Jennifer (Corey), Jamie Ricks (Heidi), Kristin (Colin), Kyle Chalmers (Natalie), Alan Laking (Alma), Erin, Heidi, Taylor and Jordan. She was also cherished by 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home (30 Worsley St, Barrie, ON L4M1L4). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 18th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Collier Street United Church (112 Collier St, Barrie, ON L4M1H3).
