She was predeceased by: her husband Edward "Ted" Smith; her parents, Helen Nisbett and Norman Nisbett; and her siblings, Junior (Reni), Toby, John, Paul, Doug (Shirley), Herb, Rosie (Don), Karl (Caroline), Randy, David, Jack, Dorothy (Bill) and Donna (Bob).
She is survived by: her children, Donnie, Jeffrey, Janice (Dave) and Julie (Tom); her grandchildren, Jason, Hyla, Rebecca, Emily, Cole, Patrick and Jacob; her great grandchildren, Jack, Max and Sloane; her siblings, Marie, Tom (Trudy), Susan and Mike (Mary Lou); and her siblings-in-law, Mary, Eddie and Betty. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Northwest United Church (464 Ferndale Dr N, Barrie, ON L4N7X7). A reception will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Katy's memory may be made to Northwest Barrie United Church or to a charity of your choice.
