“Carl and I were friends in Springfield MA in our early tween years, 1949-1955, when we learned to love operatic history and recordings. We traveled via train to NYCity to buy unusual recordings. I also admired his sister Anne. As our tastes evolved in different directions, we began drifting apart, but a few years ago we had some conversations and realized that we shared an interest in NYC's Vocal Record Society.
