Edward Joseph Lacroix Obituary

Edward Joseph LaCroix passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021, at QHC-Belleville General Hospital in his 87th year. Eddie, loving husband of Norma (nee Frost) for nearly 65 years and father to their five children, Clifford, Lorraine (Francis) Calnan, Pattie LaCroix (Terrah Keener), Jeff (Maren) and Chris (Nathalie). Grandfather known as "Bomp" to 11 grandchildren, Catie, Anthony, Patrick, Monica, Ellis, Damen, Grace, Max, Devin, Nathan and Owen and great grandfather to Liam.

Eddie was one of 13 children born to the late Willard and Kathleen LaCroix, including his three surviving siblings, Helen, Barbara, and Allan. Bomp was a meticulous and passionate gardener. He had a passion for antiques, fine workmanship and the Montreal Canadians. Dad was also a passionate reader, consuming books at a tremendous rate that often left Norma breathless.

These passions were surpassed only by his love for his family. He was fierce and unwavering in his love for Norma, his children, his grandchildren and his great grandson. Eddie, Dad, Bomp loved life, and was full of warm laughter, genuine kindness and generous compassion. And, whenever good fortune came his way he could be heard joyously proclaiming "treats all round!".

Dad was a man of quiet faith. He journeyed through his years with gentle and quiet courage inspiring so many, and in doing so his courage lives on. The family will receive friends at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville on Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Michael the Archangel on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.

Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery. Those desiring to attend the visitation or the Funeral Mass are required to preregister by contacting the funeral home at 613-968-2273 between 9:00 and 5:00 or by emailing [email protected].
