James Auld Obituary

With profound sadness, we say goodbye to James Auld (Belleville, Ontario), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. James left this world on December 1, 2025 at the age of 51, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his stepfather Fred McGovarin; and his grandparents, Sidney, Edna Lonie, James and Margaret Auld.

He is survived by: his sons, Foster and Logan Auld (Daralyn); his parents, Margaret Lonie and Doug Auld (Elaine); his sister Robyn Hoffer (Jason); and his pet Mazy. He is also survived by his children, family and close friends.

A covid lockdown project to build a coffee table inspired a love of woodworking, table making, and another favourite project - tool collecting.

His time in the North was spent in natural resource mapping, serving as a project manager and editor of the Sahtu Atlas, Friesen Press, 2005, a major contribution to the history and culture of the Sahtu Region of the NWT.
