It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mervin Shannik of Belleville, Ontario, who passed away on May 20, 2026, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross Shannik and Joyce Shannik; his wife Helen (Colton); and his siblings, Clarence Shannik and Carol Chatwood.
He is survived by: his girlfriend Emma Parry; his sons, Mike Snell (Becky) of Belleville, Dan Shannik (Jessie) of Belleville and Matt Shannik (Tiana) of Trenton; his grandchildren, Xander, Corbin, Addison, Elizabeth, Sam, Claire and Mae; and his siblings, Doug Shannik (Jacky), Ralph Shannik (Heather), Arlene White (Jack), Beverly Best (Bill), Nancy Hunt (Terry) and Ken Shannik (John).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Rushnell Funeral Homes - Belleville (80 Highland Ave, Belleville, ON K8P3R4). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 at the Elmwood Cemetery (412 River Rd, Corbyville, ON K0K1V0).
