He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Deane; his children, Chris (Andreia) of Toronto and Jeff (Rebecca) of Toronto; his stepchildren, Lee Parks (Christine) of Madoc and Krystle Humphrey (Phil) of Belleville; his grandchildren, Connor, Eli and Leigha; and his siblings, John, Dan (Ninon) and Shawna (Pierre).

In remembrance of Mike's life, the family asks that charitable donations be made to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation – Intensive Care Unit or the Canadian Lung Association.
