It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Rita (Johanna Frederika) Smit (Belleville, Ontario), who passed away on March 7, 2021, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Celia Paulis (Dolderman) and Johannes Paulis; her husband Gerard Anton Smit; her grandson Benjamin; and her brother John Paulis.

She is survived by: her children, Robert Smit (Maggie), Irene Cowie (George), John Smit (Lynn), Edward Smit (Lana) and Linda Bunnett (Robert); and her grandchildren, Meaghan, Jessica, Nathan, Joshua, Amy, Aaron, Alisha, Paige, Shannon, Sheldon, Christopher, Bradley and Breanna. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.

Donations appreciated to the Alzheimer Society or Canadian Cancer Society.**Pursuant to Maximum Attendance Regulations, all visitors must pre-register for the Funeral Mass by telephone only, by calling the Funeral Home at (613-968-6968) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00.
