Ron leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ron’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Ron will carry forward his memory in their hearts.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: parents: Pier Hovinga and Geertje Hovinga (Talsma); wife: Carol Hovinga; late wives: Beverley Hovinga and Linda Hovinga; children: John Hovinga, Peter Hovinga (Jacqueline Hovinga), Terri Hovinga Sturgeon (Murray Sturgeon), and late son Ron Hovinga (Lori Hovinga); grandchildren: Jake Hovinga, Johnathan Hovinga, Tyler Sturgeon, and Gabe Sturgeon; siblings: late Jan Hovinga (Nancy Hovinga), late Peter Hovinga (Roseanne Hovinga), late Minne Hovinga (late Sharon Hovinga), and late Margaret Madden (John Madden).

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Steele Funeral Home (30 Moira St W, Belleville, ON K8P1S2). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to Hospice Quinte.
