“8th and final segment to a man who deserved more than 500 characters In tribute to a life well spent, I dedicate this verse from the New Testament to Ron: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, my coronation, which the Lord the righteous Judge, will award unto me on that day.” 2 Timothy 4: 7 to 8 (NIV)”

“7th of 8 segments Thus, like so many others, I consider myself most fortunate to have known and been a friend of someone of Ron’s caliber for well over half a century. My deepest sympathies go to Ron’s family. He was truly a blessing to each and every one of us.”

“6th of 8 segments Ron was also a man of abiding faith. He never forced it on others, but more effectively lived his life in the footsteps of Christ, always holding himself to the highest account as not enough people do today in this deeply troubled world.”

Mike Murphy wrote a sympathy message

“5th of 8 segments As a human being, there were few better. Ron adored his wife and daughters, and later their husbands and children. He was a life-long friend to all he met, and was quick to reach out and welcome those of different ages and economic, ethnic, faith or national backgrounds. He also loved animals, yet another marker of his humanity.”

Mike Murphy wrote a sympathy message

“4th of 8 segments Ron was a creator, a quiet powerhouse of activity. His energy and powers of creativity were legendary. He designed and built a number of aircraft and boats and designed and built, among many other projects, his own musical synthesizer and a complex HO gauge train set controlled by a computer program he developed himself. He was an active Ham Radio operator with international contacts. If this weren’t enough, he set up and ran a hobby store, all the while he was doing everything else.”

Mike Murphy wrote a sympathy message

“3rd of 8 segments Thanks to his time as an RAF pilot, Ron had a great deal of wisdom and skill to impart to others and he did so with great generosity. Despite many stresses, he always did so in a calm and unflappable manner. During the early days at Belleville Flying Club, he volunteered his time, at the expense of his beloved family and his many projects, of which I will relay only a few.”

Mike Murphy wrote a sympathy message

“2nd of 8 segments Ron was always a teacher – long before I met him, after leaving Doncaster, England, he taught high school in Toronto, then in Belleville where, during the day, he taught music at Moira Secondary School and was a flying instructor (both glider and powered aircraft) by night and on weekends. Later, he set up and ran the flying school at Deseronto to give the youth of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory a chance to launch themselves into the rewarding field of aviation.”

Mike Murphy wrote a sympathy message

“1st of 8 segments I come here as one of thousands of people who have been profoundly affected, and surely for the better, by having known Ron Mason. In my case, that was since October 11th, 1970. Then, having just turned 15, I became one of Ron’s glider pilot trainees. In the decades since, I have seen at least four fascinating dimensions of this amazing and wonderful man.”
