He was predeceased by: his parents, Rita Garvin and Stephen Garvin; his son Stephen Garvin; and his siblings, Roy Garvin, Mary Garvin (late Tommy Taylor), Gerald "Rusty" Garvin (late Eileen) and Joan Finkle.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Anne Garvin; his children, John Garvin (Patricia), Joanne Thompson (late Ken), Maureen Smith (Des), Diane Garvin (Brian Read) and Lynn Siegner (Roger); his siblings, Marguerite Donohoe (late Fred) and Jack Garvin (Karen); his grandchildren, Anne, Stephen, Ben, Natalie, Joshua, Jennifer, Rachel, Meghan, Liam, Lily, Jessica and Ryan; his great grandchildren, Lauren and Halle; and his siblings-in-law, Linda Garvin and Ernie Finkle.
