He was predeceased by : his former life partner Irene Thalen; his son Rick Thalen; his granddaughter Heather Riley; and his parents, Harm Thalen and Hillichien Thalen.
He is survived by : his children, Annie Riley, Hilda Crocker (Don), Herman Thalen (Jessica) and Helen Pridham (Brian). He is also survived by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
