He was predeceased by : his mother Irene. He is survived by : his wife Andrea; his children, Piers (Alysha) and Tamara; his father Andrew; his brother Karl; his pets, Sage, Smudge, Sly, Deni, Merlin and Luna; his extended family, Don Ritchie (Rose), Tara Henderson (Jeffery) and Stephen Ritchie; his uncle John Ritchie (Lyn); and his nieces and nephews, Caroline, Adrian, Hanna, Jack and Sara.

If moved to, in memory of Ian, donations can be made to Fishing Forever (http://kidsandcops.ca), a not-for-profit organization that introduces children to recreational fishing organized by local police officers or to Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation where he was treated with care and respect for over 10 years.
