Alan Frederick James Passant Obituary
Alan Fredrick James Passant, a cherished family man and talented mechanic, peacefully passed away on Wednesday March 5th 2025, surrounded by family at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa.
He grew up in the Bowmanville area and was truly a jack of all trades. His love for cars, trucks, and motorcycles inspired a fulfilling career as a licensed mechanic. Alan worked at Burley Bus Line and McCallum Transport before dedicating the rest of his career to General Motors, where he travelled to Iraq to train fellow mechanics. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Carol, and together they raised two daughters, Tracy, Shannon and grandson Gerald. Alan's enthusiasm for rebuilding small engines, country music, RVing, and many trips to Dollywood in the smoky Mountains was well known among family and friends. Always with a project on the go, Alan was never too busy to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Alan is survived by his wife, Carol Savoy Passant, daughters Tracy and Shannon, grandsons Gerald, William and Alexander, sister Mary Mackie and brother-in-law Larry Mackie and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his sister Jane Lawrence and parents Elida Ruth Cobbledick Passant and Ernest Lloyd George Passant.
Memorial donations can be made to Sick Kids.
