He was predeceased by: his wife Alma (Goyne); his daughter Marlene; his parents, Roy and Katie; his siblings, George and Muriel Lunn (late Orville); and also, Ray Goyne (Hazel), Garnet Goyne (Wilma) and Viola Ashton (Bill).

He is survived by: his children, Sally (Tom Barrie), Tom and Faye (Paul Laing); his grandchildren, Jessica (Stewart McDonough), Kate (Craig Hyatt), Gillian (Jason Buckley), Stephen (Christie Stevens), Anna, Sam, Henry, Andrew, Sarah, Alma and Edie; his sister Helen Preston (late Lloyd); and his caregivers, Glen Hill Strathaven and Sincere. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society Durham Region or Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
