She was predeceased by: her husband John "Rae" Abernethy; her son Doug; her parents, Roy McDonald and Myrtle McDonald; and her sister Marlene Jarvis.

She is survived by: her children, Laurel, Alan, Ron and Jill; her grandchildren, Tammy, Marci (Jonathan), Daniel (Kelly) and Bryan (Judy); and her great grandchildren, Bradyn, Gavin, Savannah, Makayla, Hailey, Dylan, Madison, Emmett and Caleb.
