As Lena departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Lena. Though Lena may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband John Schankula Jr. Loving; her daughters, Barbara Ransom (Danny) and Hilda Hammond (Bill); and her grandchildren, Daniel Ransom (Emily), Jennifer Ransom, Christopher Hammond (Meaghan), Jeffrey Hammond (Siobhan) and Luke Ransom.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Skwarchuk Funeral Home (30 Simcoe Rd, Bradford West Gwillimbury, ON L3Z2A9). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In Lena's memory, donations may be made to Stronach Regional Cancer Centre at Southlake Regional Health Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
