She was loved and cherished by many people including : her husband Fernando Mateus; her children, Nelson Mateus (Amanda), Gilberto Mateus and Helder Da Silva; and her sister Rosa Juliao (Joao Carlos). She was also cherished by her nieces and nephews.

In Maria Augusta's memory, donations may be made to the Stronach Cancer Centre at Southlake Regional Health Centre.
