He was predeceased by: his wife Janice Strain (McEwan); his son James Fraser; and his parents, David Strain and Myrtle Strain. He is survived by: his children, Bob (Margaret), Valerie (Ric), Tom (Rachel) and Marilyn; and his brother Harly. He is also survived by his grandchildren, their partners and his great grandchildren.
