He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Braaten and June Braaten; his grandchildren, Deva, Mira, Shantima and Samuel; and his brother Peter Braaten (Judy).

He is survived by: his wife Lauralee Morris; his children, Mark (Danielle-Madhurima), Heather (Paul) and Karen (Steff); his former wife Vicki Braaten-Thompson (Don); his sister Anne Orr (Ed); and also, Eda, Monica (Ralph), Peter (Kim) and Robert (Donna).
