He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Walter B. Carruthers and Edna Mae "Julie" Carruthers; and his siblings, Helen and Walter. He is survived by: his grandson Ian; his brothers, Tommy Belton, Ted and Mac (George Jr.); his wife Karen; his children, Sara (Craig) and Ian (Lisa); his grandchildren, Cameron, Callum, Ryan and Brennan; his brother Dr. Chris Carruthers (late Donna); his siblings-in-law, Kristan and Joe McKercher; his nieces and nephews, Jonathan (Keri), Kourtney (John), Lisanne (Paul), Allison and Kenny; his childhood buddy Tommy Belton (Laura); his friend John Hillier (Fern); and his pet Archie.
