He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Kathleen and Norman; his brother Neville; his spouse Diane; his children, Michael Clayton (Heather Lee), Amanda Tamane-McKinnie (Alan), Chris Hannaford, Greg Hannaford, Nicholas Clayton (Amanda), Sean Clayton (Emily) and Richard Clayton (Katerina Cepero); and his grandchildren, Louise McKinnie, Colin Tamane, Michiko McKinnie, Kenji Tamane, Nicole Hannaford, Caitlin Hannaford, Nathaniel Clayton, Emma Clayton, Liam Clayton and Josephine Clayton.
