He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Nelson Yates and Florence Yates; his siblings, Nelson (Buster), James (Jimmy), Marjorie, Edith and Gail; his sons, Lawrence and Brett; his stepdaughter Judy (Patrick); his grandchildren, Brittany, Crystal, Kelly and Nathan; his sisters-in-law, Sheila, Juanita and Wanda; his close friends, Trevor, Diane, Pat, Fred and Leonard; and his spouse Gail. He was also cherished by his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
