Dave Young wrote a sympathy message

“My sincere condolences to Les' family. Les was my Boss for several years at The Toronto Star and I found him to be likeable, supportive, fair and extremely clever. We hadn't spoken in many years (and for that I am regretful). Les - may you rest in peace. (Dave Young)”

Melanie Le wrote a sympathy message

“Dear Les, you have always been the most caring and inspiring professor that I have ever had. I miss the way you patiently answered our silly questions, not only about the lecture, but also everything in life. All of your genuine advice and hilarious stories made us closer to you and respect you more. The only thing that I regret is not having a chance to meet you in person and never will... Les, death could bring you out of this world, but never will bring you out of us. May you rest in peace.”

“You are an amazing, inspirational, and respected professor, Les. Thank you for your dedication to your teaching and your love for the students. In my 1st semester, you encouraged me a lot to keep pursuing my major when I doubted myself and I'm forever thankful for that. I hope to see you again one day in heaven. Rest in peace.”

BTO120, Winter 2021 wrote a sympathy message

“You were not only an incredible professor, but an equally caring individual. You taught me more in a single semester than others would have been able to teach me in years. Your stories were always funny, your wisdom always relevant, and your guitars always awesome! I regret deeply that I'll never get the opportunity to study under you in 4th year, or that I won't ever get to meet you in person. Thank you for all that you've done, the world needs more people like you.”
