He was predeceased by: his sister Ethel Vilkas (Jerry). He is survived by: his wife Jackie; his daughter Christina Lacaba (Matt); his grandchildren, Sienna, Ariana, Matthew Jr. and Noah; his siblings, Norman (Maria Rosa), Louisa McFarlane, Trudy Seutter (Ron), George (Darlene) and Charlie; his friends, Mike and Janice Russel; and his godsons, Brett and Sean Russell.

As Alex's grandson Matthew is a member of CHAMPS, the family has requested any donations to be made to The War Amps Foundation of Canada, also an option is Samaritan's Purse.
