She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Velda when I was an ECE student doing a placement with Toronto Home Child Care many years ago and our paths crossed again years later when I worked with Velda at THCC. Velda was passionate about her work supporting children, families and home care providers. She made a positive impact on those she worked with and supported.”
