He was predeceased by : his wife Susan Stirling (Cooper); his parents, Brodie Stirling and Roberta Stirling (Nichol); his brother John Stirling; and his sister-in-law Joanne Watson.

He is survived by : his sons, Mark Stirling (Mary Limbeeck) of Brockville and Grant Stirling (Rena Sheskin) of Chicago; his grandchildren, Arielle and Aviv; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Stirling and Sally Williams. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
