He was predeceased by: his parents, William Johnston and Lulu Johnston of Monkland, ON.; and his siblings, Les, Ford, Glenn, Arthur, Eric, Wallace, Eileen, Leila and Betty.
He is survived by: his wife Stella Smith-Johnston; his grandchildren, Kristyn (Erik), Alyssa (Reid), Kaitlyn (Jesse), Cole (Clarissa) and Delaney (Tyler); his siblings, Lyall (Laura) of Cornwall and Norma Robinson of Whitecourt; and his sisters-in-law, Noreen of Cornwall and Betty of Cornwall. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Brockville General Hospital Foundation Palliative Care.
