He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Howard; his child O. J. Donaldson; his parents, Thomas Howard and Ethel Howard; and his siblings, Karen, Jim and Nancy.

He is survived by: his children, Tara, John Brophy, Brenda, Takashi Sora, Amanda, Paul Jackson, Kelly Howard, Bree Donaldson, Quinn Donaldson and Kristof Chirvaiu; his sister Lorna McDougall; and his friend Anglican Church.
