He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Downey and Basil Downey; and his wife Marion. He is survived by: his children, Terry Downey (Judith), Pat Downey, Lynda Jeffrey and Laura Rideout (Jon); his grandchildren, Brianna (Scott), Brendon (Delanie), Basil (Chantelle), Jenna Lee (Marc), Kyle (Lorna), Sarah (Ron), Scott (Olivia) and Brett (Maddy); and his great grandchild Angela.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church (196 Kenwood Ave, Burlington, ON L7L4L8). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Smith's Funeral Home (485 Brant St, Burlington, ON L7R2G5). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at the Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery (600 Spring Gardens Rd, Burlington, ON L7T1J1).
Deeply committed to giving back, Paul volunteered his time coaching youth hockey and football, supporting local charity events, and serving as an active member and volunteer at St. Patrick's Church.
